If the connections of Breeders’ Cup Pro-Ride Mile, then there’s no doubt he will go off the favorite and probably take down this million dollar race with ease. That’s how good of a race horse Well Armed is.

But if his connections get brave and run Well Armed in the Breeders’ Cup Classic, and online racebook fans should be hoping that Armed’s connections do exactly that, then favoritism in the Breeders’ Cup Pro-Ride Mile will no doubt fall to Lewis Michael.

Based on his last race, where Lewis Michael won the Pat O’Brien Stakes on Polytrack at Del Mar, Lewis Michael should be favored in the Breeders’ Cup Pro-Ride Mile. In the Pat O’Brien, Michael was going off at 8.6 to 1 online betting odds. He put away some serious race horses in Rebellion and Barbecue Eddie. He won easily and had a lot left in the tank. There’s no doubt that even though the Pat O’Brien was at 7 furlongs, Lewis Michael can get the extra furlong in the Breeder’s Cup Mile.

Out of the terrific turf sire Rahy, and trained by underrated East Coast trainer Wayne Catalano, Lewis Michael has earned over $800,000 out of only 22 races. He is a hard knocking five year old that has done his best work between seven furlongs and a mile and an eighth. He always puts in a good run which the is most you can ask for from a horse like him.

So going off the favorite looks likely for Lewis Michael. But what exactly will his true online betting chances be in the race?

This is the first time that the Breeders’ Cup will offer a mile race on the main track. Because of that, it’s important for online betting fans to note that speedsters stretching out could have a decided affect on what happens in the race. Lewis Michael is one of those speedsters but he doesn’t have nearly the speed that Desert Code, Desert Key, Divine Park and Gotcha Gold have.

In fact I will be surprised if, should all the horses I mentioned above make the race, Lewis Michael was within six to seven lengths of any one of those horses early on in the race. That, of course, means that Lewis Michael could be an even better online wager. If the four horses I mentioned above take it to each other early, then things should set up for Lewis Michael in this race.

In any case, the online betting odds will be the key to whether or not Lewis Michael is the key horse in this race. The depth of the race would be qualified by adding another speedster like Well Armed.

With so much speed, Lewis Michael should be going off at online betting odds close to his morning line. He may be the favorite in this race, once the online wagering is done, but he won’t be a huge favorite.

I’m going to say that Lewis Michael is a good online wager at 4 to 1 or higher in this race. Mast Track, a horse I did not mention above, has just decided to enter this instead of the Breeders’ Cup Classic. That should add even more speed to this race.

Lewis Michael could turn into one of the likeliest winners on the Breeders’ Cup Saturday card. Should he enter the race having to run into incredibly quick fractions, his chances will improve.
