Saturday Horse Pick of the Day: Arlington Park Race 8

Bookmark and Share by BetUS Staff

Arlington Million Day at Sportsbook fans to find a long shot horse bet.

Luckily, for us online racebook fans who hate making horse bets on the chalk, there appears to be a viable long shot in one of the big races this Saturday at Arlington Park.

Let’s get to it!

Arlington Park – Race 8

Grade I Secretariat Stakes

$400,000

For Three-Year Olds

1 ¼ miles on the turf

Winchester - - 10/1 morning line horse betting odds

Out of the barn of terrific European trainer Dermot Weld, Winchester has been awful so far in his short career. Yes, he did break his maiden and then finished second in his next race, a listed affair on the turf in Ireland, but check out what he’s done in his past two - - both loses by a combined 20 ½ lengths. So why am I making him my number one online betting option in this race? First, the online odds are going to hold. Second, Weld sends him over to the United States and put lasix into him as well as fitting him with blinkers. He could be closer to the pace because of the blinkers and still save all of the ground because of his inside post. I like Winchester up the rail. At the expected huge odds, why not?

Plan - - 5/2 morning line horse betting odds

Aidan O’Brien knows how to win these American races. When he comes across the sea with a horse like Plan, you almost expect him to win. Plan is a very, very good three-year old. He’s already won a Grade III at the Curragh in Ireland and there aren’t any world beaters in here. Plan could definitely come through with O’Brien’s plan and bring home the Secretariat Stakes’ trophy.

Tizdejavu - - 6/5 morning line horse betting odds

The morning line chalk looks like the lone speed in this, right? Wrong! Secret Getwaway, breaking from the nine hole, should press this fella every step of the way. Don’t get me wrong, this son of Tiznow is an incredibly intimidating foe and he’s won three races in a row, two Grade II races and a Grade III, but he’s never faced the likes of Plan and Winchester. Class on the grass means more then just taking the lead and running off. The jockey’s in this race are all pros. They will be aware of Tizdejavu’s style. I expect him to finish in the top two but hanging on for a victory might be asking too much.

Wagering Strategy

I’ll be making exacta box with only Plan and Winchester.

Good Luck!
