Breeders’ Cup Betting - Low Cost Pick 6 Ticket is the Way to Go

The way to go for Breeders’ Cup 2009 betting on Saturday is to bet a low-cost Pick 6 ticket.
It makes no sense putting in more than, say, around $200 to $300 towards the Pick 6. The reason being is that you can often double up your bet by adding a single horse in any one of the legs. So, if you don’t have a good opinion, then maybe the best idea is to skip the Pick 6 wager altogether and concentrate on other wagers on Breeders’ Cup Day.
I do have a strong opinion on most of the races. So, without wasting further time, below is my Pick 6 ticket for Saturday.
BC - - Pick 6 Ticket
Race 4 - - Breeders’ Cup Sprint
Horses used: #5 Gayego
Analysis: Let’s get one of our singles out of the way right off the bat. Gayego is the most likely winner of the BC Sprint because he’s the best in a race full of speed and he has terrific Pro-Ride experience.
Race 5 - - Breeders’ Cup Juvenile
Horses used: #5 D’Funnybone, #6 Pulsion, #8 Eskendereya, #11 Radiohead
Analysis: D’Funnybone is the most talented horse in this field but he might not like the Pro-Ride. Pulsion is coming up to a big race. Eskendereya was brilliant in his last, and like Pulsion, could take a huge step forward. Radiohead looks to be the best European.
Race 6 - - Breeders’ Cup Mile
Horses used: #1 Court Vision, #4 Delegator, #8 Zacinto, #11 Goldikova
Analysis: Everybody and their mother are keying Goldikova in the Pick 6. That’s why I’m not. You have to be gutsy on Breeders’ Cup Day. I’m taking the likeliest winners should Goldikova not fire.
Race 7 - - Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile
Horses used: #3 Midshipman
Analysis: Godolphin’s color bearer won at 1 1/16th miles on the Pro-Ride last year in the BC Juvenile. He had his tune up race and looked brilliant. Now, all he has to do is get the lead under patient rider Garrett Gomez and coast to a victory. I’m not afraid of Mastercraftsman who, although classy, shouldn’t be able to keep up with Midshipman.
Race 8 - - Breeders’ Cup Turf
Horses used: #6 Precious Passion, #7 Spanish Moon
Analysis: There’s really no other speed in this race besides Presious Passion. So, if the gelding can clear and jockey Elvis Trujillo can control his speed, then he probably will win. Spanish Moon should be the closest too Presious Passion. He figures to get the best trip out of the rest.
Race 9 - - Breeders’ Cup Classic
Horses used: #3 Summer Bird, #12 Quality Road
Analysis: Everybody believes that Summer Bird doesn’t like the Pro-Ride surface because he trained badly over it as a 2 year old. What? I mean, seriously. How about he just hadn’t yet developed into the monster that he is now because he was a 2 year old? That’s the more likely explanation.
Quality Road is his arch nemesis. These are two of the best male three year olds to come around in a very long time. They’re both running big, big speed numbers, they’ve both beaten older and they both are trained by expert horseman. I’m blowing off both Rip Van Winkle and Zenyatta because I just feel that Summer Bird and Quality Road are the two best horses in this race.
$2 total cost: 1 x 4 x 4 x 1 x 2 x 2 = 64
= $128
