Breeders’ Cup Betting – Pick 3 Wagering Strategy - Races 7 Through 9

Bookmark and Share by D.S. Williamson

The final leg of the final rolling Pick 3 of the day in this year’s Breeders’ Cup is the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

I cannot stress this fact enough. Because almost everybody who doesn’t read this article will be keying Curlin in the final leg of this Pick 3 it makes sense for us to leave Curlin out. If Curlin beats us, then more power to him, but the idea of making online wagers on the Breeders’ Cup races is to make a huge online betting score, not to just cash a ticket.

We will leave Curlin out of our Pick 3 and then see what happens!

Let’s get to it!

Race 7 - - Breeders’ Cup Sprint

Let’s go four deep in here with Cost of Freedom (4/1), Fabulous Strike (4/1), Midnight Lute (7/2) and Fatal Bullet (6/1). By leaving out Street Boss in this race, we are making sure that the Pick 3 will pay off even higher once Curlin doesn’t win the Classic! Hey, that’s why we call it online sportsbook betting, right?

Race 8 - - Breeders’ Cup Turf

This is a tough, tough race. It’s important to not get too crazy, but there’s no way to get past putting in less than five in our Pick 3. The five are Red Rocks (5/1), Grand Couturier (6/1), Soldier of Fortune (7/2), Winchester (15/1) and Conduit (6/1). Winchester is my top choice, but it’s tough to key a 15/1 shot in the Breeders’ Cup Turf. Conduit has a huge shot and Soldier of Fortune is a Group 1 winner for Aidan O’Brien.

Race 9 - - Breeders’ Cup Classic

By leaving Curlin out of our final rolling Pick 3 we do two things. First, should we hit this, we assure a huge online racebook payout. Second, we assure that we will have to put up more money in this Pick 3 then we have in any of the other Pick 3’s of the day. We’re going four deep in this race. Let’s go with Duke of Marmalade (10/1), Henrythenavigator (10/1), Fairbanks (10/1) and Champ Elysees at 15 to 1. Bobby Frankel wouldn’t put Champ Elysees in this race unless he really thought he had a shot. Maybe, Elysees is just as good as Curlin at closing. Henrythenavigator is simply a monster and Duke of Marmalade won five straight Group 1 races over the spring and summer.

Total investment $1 Pick 3 - - $80
