Breeders’ Cup - Pick 3 Betting Strategy - Races 1 Through 3

Bookmark and Share by D.S. Williamson

Betting on the Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships depends quite a bit on luck. The luck, of course, can come from a number of different areas. For instance, is it lucky for online racebook fans if the winner of the first Breeders’ Cup race in the Marathon is an 8 to 1 shot? Yes, I suppose it is. It could be bad luck if the winner in the first race on October 25th is a 4 to 5 shot.

I’ve found over time that the best way to cash tickets, and to make the most of your online betting bankroll, is to make wagers on rolling Pick-3’s in the Breeders’ Cup.

Let’s get to the first rolling Pick-3 on October 25th!

Race 1 - - Breeders’ Cup Marathon

I’m gong to go three deep in here with Delightful Kiss (8/1), Muhannak (20/1) and Booyah (30/1). I’m not sold on Sixties Icon at 2/1 or Zappa at 5/2. Why not take a huge shot? Overlays are the answer today!

Race 2 - - Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint

I’m going three deep again in this race as well. True to Tradition (3/1), California Flag (15/1) and Mr. Nightlinger (6/1). My gut tells me that California Flag should win this rather easily considering he is the only horse that really knows how to run down that goofy Santa Anita Downhill Turf Course. Mr. Nightlinger has been almost unbeatable in sprint races on the turf. True to Tradition has gotten good late.

Race 3 - - Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile

I tried to pare this down to three or four horses, but I couldn’t get out of this race without five. The five are Well Armed (3/1), Lewis Michael (5/1), My Pal Charlie (20/1), Pyro (6/1) and Albertus Maximus (4/1). I really like My Pal Charlie at 20/1 on the morning line. I mean, the online betting odds on Charlie are ridiculous right now.

Total Investment for a $1 Pick 3 = $45

Good Luck!
