National major stakes races on the weekends.

With Monday being MLK Day, most tracks were running and some of those are dark today including Aqueduct.

One track that is running today is Gulfstream Park, so we will head out to Hallandale, Fl. seeking out a couple of wagering opportunities to pad our bankroll.

I found three such races on today’s card:

Gulfstream Park Race 2 Alw---s (1:42 et)

#8 Cinema Show 6/1

#5 Cinque Bella 5/2

## East to Eden 3/1

#1 Master Tricky 8/1

#8 Cinema Show invades from Canada, beating $40K maiden claiming company last out at Woodbine over polytrack in her fifth career start. She finished strongly in that race to win by 2 ¾ lengths and now cuts back to seven furlongs. The Gulch filly has shown steady improvement with each start and has a couple of good drills over at Palm Meadows for her local debut. Garcia picks up the call and this starter allowance, for horses that broke their maidens for $40,000 or less did not come up that tough.

#5 Cinque Bella made a mild rally up the inside to check in third last out in her first start against winners, taking on Alw-1 foes. Two back she broke her maiden against $32K foes and that effort was flattered when the runner up #3 East to Eden returned to break her maiden in her next outing on 12/21 versus $32K foes.

Wagering

WIN: #8 to win at 7/2 or better.

EX: 5,8 / 1,3,5,8

TRI: 5,8 / 1,3,5,8 / 1,3,5,6,8

Gulfstream Park Race 3 Clm $50,000 (2:10 et)

#7 Pampered King 8/1

#5 Forever Gleaming 8/1

#9 South Fork Lodge 3/1

#1 It’s Out There 5/2

#7 Pampered King made a mild late rally to finish third last out at Tampa Bay in his first start against winners. The colt had come off a two-month break to beat maiden special weight company at Calder with a good late run. The colt appears to be on the improve for a sharp outfit in Motion and this guy has quite the pedigree. The $325K purchase is by Kingmambo out of the stakes winner Second ($236K), who has dropped three other turf winners including stakes winner Aussie Rules ($874K). He is worth a good look here if we see closer to the 8/1 ML.

#5 Forever Gleaming ships in from Woodbine after breaking his maiden against $50K maidens on the polytrack. The colt makes his first start for the Pino barn that is 12% winners first off the claim. The colt has only been on poly but should take to the turf. Two of his sibs are turf winners including stakes winner Ginger Gold ($1 million). This will be his first go around two turns but has enough pedigree to handle the extra ground and also looks attractive if we see close to the 8/1 ML.

Wagering

WIN: #7 to win at 9/2 or better.

EX: 5,7 / 1,5,7,9

TRI: 5,7 / 1,5,7,9 / 1,5,7,8,9

Gulfstream Park Race 8 OClm $100,000C (4:30 et)

#4 Mambo Meister 5/1

#8 Hellvelyn 3/1

#9 Jet Propulsion 6/1

#1 Minister’s Joy 8/1

#4 Mambo Meister had a tough trip last out in the Ft. Lauderdale. The gelding had to steady soon after the break in traffic, had to steady heading into the first turn and did not had enough steam left in the stretch in a sixth place finish although he was beaten just a length for the top spot. He was coming off a career top speed fig two back when he was a sharp winner against Alw-3 optional claimers, which was his first career victory on turf. A clean trip puts him in the hunt here and we should get a fair price.

#8 Hellvelyn is returning off a 3 ½ month break for the McLaughlin barn that is 22% winners with horses coming back off a 61-180 day layoff. The five year old makes his third start since coming to the U.S. He was in the mix against Group 1 company including a good second in the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh back in ’06. He just missed winning his U.S. debut when third in the Quick Call and last out was sixth in G2 company. The question mark is whether he can handle two turns.

Wagering

WIN: #4 to win at 3/1 or better.

EX: 4,8 / 1,4,8,9

TRI: 4,8 / 1,4,8,9 / 1,4,8,9,,11

Good luck padding your bankroll today!
