Tracks like Mountaineer Park are often times great places to make online horse bets on because the stock of animal is quite similar from race to race. What this means is that sports betting fans needs to really pay attention to the slightest drops in class.

Horses that have been running well consistently at one level can definitely improve on the drop while horses that have been running badly at similar claiming levels rarely improve no matter where they are dropped.

This three year old colt was claimed by Rodney Faulkner for $5,000, jumped up to a $15,000 claimer, and ran the best race of his life. He could even bounce off of that race a tad and win this. Faulkner obviously knows what he is doing. He gets the nod in a tough race.

Flatter Time - - 10/1 online betting odds

He’s coming off of a terrible race where he lost by 18 ½ lengths but before that his form wouldn’t just put him into the thick of this, he’d probably win it. He has speed in a race lacking that skill and he can track from the outside. Don’t be surprised if Flatter Time takes the lead at the top of the stretch and keeps going at overlaid online betting odds.

Splish - - 5/2 online betting odds

The chalk has every right to win this but there are a few serious knocks. From a speed rating point-of-view, this gelding isn’t any better than Diamond Tree. From a pace point-of-view, he’s up against it as he has no choice but to close into soft fractions. Make sure the online odds are right before jumping in.

Wagering Strategy

I love Diamond Tree to win and place at online odds of 3 to 1 or higher. I will use an exacta and trifecta box with Splish and Flatter Time. If Diamond Tree gets bet down to favoritism, then I’m all over Flatter Time.
