Horse Racing 3 Pick from Aqueduct

National horse racing handicapper Michael Dempsey will attempt to pad his bankroll and yours with his daily column. He will feature at least one Pick 3 or Pick 4 play from a major track along with coverage of major stakes races, longshots, and he will keep you up to date on what is happening on the circuits he covers.

The track at Aqueduct was sloppy on Wednesday, and while it figures to improve going into Thursday’s card, the winds are going to be picking up.

The forecast is calling for winds at 20 to 30 mph with gusts that may be more than 40 mph. With temperatures in the mid 30’s, that sounds very cold.

Luckily for us, we will be in the comfort of home in our slippers, trying to pad our bankroll with our online wagering account.

#9 Rock Candy Mt. may have found the right spot for her debut for the Violette barn that is 23% winners (with a +ROI) with first time starters. The filly is by El Corredor (10% winners with debut runners) out of a Pleasant Colony mare that has dropped one other foal to race, 1 for 8 Bishop's Creek ($19K). The filly has steady strong of solid looking works and the barn knows how to have them ready to go early.

#1 Treat Her Right showed some early interest in her debut and faded to finish fifth against maiden special weight company at Churchill Downs back in May. She caught a decent group that day, the winner is now a stakes winner and the runner up is now stakes placed. Lands with a capable barn in Martin who is 17% winners with newcomers to the barn but has been cold so far at this meeting.

#2 Misty Pearl, #1 Dynamite Jewel / #1a Milliondollar Moon

#2 Misty Pearl came up short in the stretch last out at Philly in the mud against $20K non winners of a race in six months. The runner up Girl Show came back to beat restricted $16K claimers in her next outing. Two back our top pick was sixth against Alw-1 foes in a highly graded race that produced three next out winners. She has run cheaply, as low as $7.5K and has never faced NY breds. She can handle the extra ground and hoping she is overlooked on the tote.

#1 Dynamite Jewel set the early fractions in the mud and weakened to finish fourth last out. She has done some of her best running on the inner including her maiden score last February. She earned her career top two back coming off a seven month layoff and looks primed for a good effort here in her third start of her current form cycle.

#2 Goodgollymissdolly, #1 Not Now / #1a Straight n' Narrow, #10 Fast n' Sassy

#2 Goodgollymissdolly drops in price and stretches out to a route here for the Iselin barn. The filly has not garnered much respect on the tote in her recent starts but she was a decent fourth two back against $35K non winners of two in a race in which the top two finishers won next out and two others ran second in their next starts. She broke her maiden going two turns on poly at Turfway and certainly has the pedigree to handle the extra ground. She is by Pleasant Tap out of an A.P. Indy mare. She gets in light with the capable bug and we should catch a fair price.
