Horse Racing: Pick 3 Starts in Race 7 at Gulfstream Park on Saturday

Bookmark and Share by D.S. Williamson

All three of Gulfstream Park’s graded races on Saturday are restricted to female horses. The Grade III Sabin at a mile will showcase Justwhistledixie who hasn’t won since March of 2009 but figures to go off the favorite on Saturday.

The other two races, the Davona Dale and the Very One, could be won by long shots. Being able to bet against at least one favorite in a Pick 3 sequence is the way to cash big profit tickets in the racebook.

1 st Leg: 4:12 pm EST

Pick 3: Gulfstream Park

Race 7

Grade III Sabin For Fillies and Mares Four Years Old and Up

1 mile on dirt

Horses Used: 1-Justwhistledixie, 5-Aurora Light, 7-Jessica is Back

Analysis: Justwhistledixie is the class of the field and a must use even though she hasn’t won in almost a year. Jockey Julien Leparoux will make sure that she doesn’t get into a speed duel. Aurora Light is the lone real presser/closer in this field. Things could set up for her with so much speed signed on in this. Jessica is Back will have a lot of other speed to contend with in this but she’s 2 and 2 out of 5 races at this distance and breaks to the outside of the other speed. Jockey J.J. Castellano could put her in a nice stalking position.

Race 8

Grade II Davona Dale Stakes For Fillies Three Years Old

1 mile on dirt

Horses Used: 4-Bickersons, 6-Christine Daae, 8-Sassy Image

Analysis: Bickersons freaked in her last, a victory in the Grade II Forward Gal. She will be going off at low odds in this but is a must use. Christine Daae is coming off of a maiden victory, but her works have been excellent and she’s bred to be very, very good. Sassy Image has won 3 races in a row and deserves respect even though her speed ratings are slower than some of the others in here.

Race 9

Grade III The Very One Stakes For Fillies and Mares Four Years Old and Up

1 3/8 th miles on turf

Horses Used: 2-Belle Allure, 5-Cable, 8-Mystic Miracle, 9-Closeout

Analysis: Christophe Clement saddles Belle Allure who failed miserably in her first race off the bench when finishing 10 th in an allowance race. She should be much tighter in this and should return to the form that garnered 2 wins, 1 second, and 1 third place finish in 4 races. Cable is another Clement horse that figures to put in a good run in this. Cable barley missed by ¾ of a length in her last, a grade 3 race. She has a 2-2-2 record out of 8 lifetime starts. Mystic Miracle is 12 to 1 on the morning line and is stepping up in class but is bred to absolutely love this distance. The daughter of Unbridled’s Song could surprise at good odds. Closeout doesn’t look like much on paper but her jockey, Edgar Prado, is awesome and her trainer, Thomas Procter, is winning at a 40% clip at the meet. She’s yet another with a shot in this ultra-competitive race.

Combinations: 3 x 3 x 4 = 36
