Trainer May Eppler drops this gal out of a 1 1/16th mile race where she actually ran very well to finish second. That race was on the turf and before anybody starts to worry about this gal being a turf horse, her best race occurred in a restricted stakes, a lot like this one, going six furlongs. Perhaps, this is her best distance. At the online odds of 10 to 1, I’m willing to take a stab.

City Bird - - 5/2 online betting odds

It feels as if City Bird really has things going her way. She’s had a win and three seconds in her last four starts and gets Edgar Prado to guide her through this restricted stakes. Like Way With Words, she is dropping from a route race into this. That should set her up well, but sometimes these fillies and mares only have a good four races in them at a single time. She’s an iffy online wager at what should be very low odds.

Tar Heel Mom - - 9/5 online betting odds

The likely chalk has been in the money in all five of her lifetime races. The real knock against her is the fact that she can track well but has trouble closing the deal. She’s a bit of a hanger which is a bad sign because her online wagering odds will be so low. She’s worth a horse bet should she drift up from those 9/5 odds.

Wagering Strategy

I love the way that Way With Words is coming into this race. To me, she’s almost a stand-out because the others will be going off at very low odds. I will play Way With Words across the board, that’s win, place, and show online wagers, and bet her in an exacta and trifecta box with Tar Heel Mom and City Bird.
