November 6th Horse Pick of the Day - Hollywood Park Race 6

Bookmark and Share by D.S. Williamson

Sometimes the best online wagers occur in what appear to be the cheapest races. For sports betting fans, not paying attention to so called cheap races because it looks difficult to find a winner in them would be a terrible thing to do.

Sometimes the best overlays can be found in these cheap races.

Let’s get to it!

Race-time: 3:07 p.m.

Hollywood Park - - Race 6

$16,000 Claiming

For Three Year Olds

1 1/16th miles on cushion track

Summer Shoot - - 6/1 online betting odds

His record on the cushion track is respectable and he’s dropping into a level where he has been successful. There isn’t a whole lot to dislike about this guy. He should be able to press a decent pace and jockey Michael Baze knows Hollywood Park well. In a very competitive claiming race, he gets the nod.

Crimson Star - - 4/1 online betting odds

This fella gives online racebook fans two reasons to like him. First, he’s taking another drop in class from the $25,000 level to this $16,000 level. Second, he’s moving turf to all weather (cushion track) which means that he could wake up big time. Or, not. Trainer Christopher Paasch hasn’t done all that well with horses that go turf to all weather, but Crimson Star is still the most talented horse in this field.

Sandita - - 5/2 online betting odds

This son of Explicit has the necessary speed to stay close or even take the lead from his outside post. He too is dropping in class although it’s from a slightly lower $20,000 level than both Crimson Star and Summer Shoot. Still, because Sandita can either take the lead or track, he’s plenty dangerous in this race.

Wagering Strategy

Summer Shoot is the play at what should be good online betting odds. I will use Summer Shoot, Sandita and Crimson Star in an exacta box. Because this race came up tough, I will bypass the tri-box and instead concentrate on the win, place, and exacta.

Good Luck!
