Padding Your Bankroll - Horse Picks from Aqueduct

Friday’s card at Aqueduct holds some promise, starting with our play of the day, which is a $25,000 claiming race, the fourth race on the nine race card.
J T Moore is sitting at 4/1 on the morning line and finds a good spot to pick up another win.
Our Late Pick 3 play starts in the seventh race, a $20 investment for a $1 unit. We will go five deep in the final leg, a bottom level $12,500 maiden claiming race for New York breds.
Today's Play of the Day from Aqueduct:
AQU Race 4 Clm $25,000 (2:27 et)
#4 J T Moore 4/1
#5 Forty Third Recon 5/1
#1 Gold Prospect / #1a Sweet Groom 5/2
#6 Dark Ops 3/1
Analysis: #4 J T Moore is the lone runner in here that has beaten winners, taking a $20K claimer two back in gate to wire fashion. Last out she stepped into NY bred company for this tag and faded to finish seventh after battling for the early lead. She may not have to go quite as quick early here and she appears to have regressed off her career top two back. She is in a sharp barn with Brown and I am expecting to see her bounce back with a better effort here in this spot.
#5 Forty Third Recon pressed the early pace and weakened to finish fifth last out against open $25K foes. The gelding was claimed out of the race by the Duggan barn that has won with 4 of his last 7 (with a +ROI) first off the claim. The gelding looks well spotted here facing NY breds off a seven week freshening.
Wagering
WIN: #4 to win at 3/1 or better.
EX: 4,5 / 1,4,5,6
TRI: 4,5 / 1,4,5,6 / 1,2,4,5,6
Today’s Pick 3 Play from Aqueduct:
Starting in Race 7: $1: 6,7 / 1,5 / 1,2,5,7,9 = $20
AQU Race 7 Clm $14,000 (3:55 et)
#6 Indian Hawke, #7 Ferocious Won
#6 Indian Hawke returns off a nine week break for the Levine barn that is 36% winners (with a +ROI) with horses coming back off a 61-180 day layoff. When last seen the gelding set the early fractions and tired to finish seventh against NY bred Alw-2 optional claimers. He caught a surface that was favoring outside stalkers and closers that day. The barn claimed this guy for $25K and looks well spotted here jamming him in for a $14K tag.
#7 Ferocious Won had to steady after stumbling out of the gate last out, making a mild late rally while wide to finish fourth against $20K claimers. The gelding stretches out to a route for her second start off the claim by the potent Volk barn that is hitting at a 42% clip (with a +ROI) second off the claim. The gelding is 2 for 5 at the distance and drops a notch in class.
AQU Race 8 OClm $75,000N3X (4:25 et)
#5 Spritely, #1 Hello Poochi Pooh
#5 Spritely returns off a two month break, last out a disappointing third in a four horse field in the Affectionately. She was off slow, rushed up to set the early pace and faded to finish 14 lengths back of the winner. She is better than she showed last out and she owns a good edge in early and mid pace numbers. A better break and she will be very tough to catch in this spot.
#1 Hello Poochi Pooh is coming off back to back wins in Maryland, last out taking the Md Racing Media 'Cap in gate to wire fashion. She did not beat much in that race, but comes in here in very sharp for a sharp Maryland barn and ERod makes the trip up to ride.
AQU Race 9 Md $12,500 (4:55 et)
#1 Jet Jason, #2 Karakorumkonichiwa, #5 Clonen, #7 Alpha Dancer, #9 Run From Hell
#1 Jet Jason showed some early interest before fading to finish a well beaten 12th in his career against $15K foes. The race has been productive, as the runner up, third, and fourth place finishers in the race all have come back to win next out. The colt is sent out by the Contessa barn that is 16% winners with second time starters. There just is not much in here to get excited about and this one figures to move forward with a race under his belt and hopefully is overlooked on the tote.
#2 Karakorumkonichiwa cuts back to six furlongs after chasing the early pace and tiring to finish sixth last out. He was ninth two back in the key race our top pick comes out of. Lasix is added to the mix here. He has two sibs to race, both winners, top earner Warrior MIss ($49K). Perhaps the cut back in distance and the juice will move this guy forward against this weak looking group.
Price Plays:
These are price plays to watch today. A small win-place wager is in order or if your pockets are deep enough, use these runners in your trifecta and Pick 3 and Pick 4 wagers. One or two of these could be the difference between a regular day at the track and hitting the IRS window with a signer.
