Padding Your Bankroll - March 11 Horse Picks from Aqueduct

Bookmark and Share by Michael Dempsey

A new week at the Big A starts today, and we might see some rain, as there are showers forecast for early in the day with a 60% chance of rain.

The Late Pick 3 play has some potential for a decent payoff as we attempt to pad our bankroll. My top picks have morning lines of 4/1, 6/1, and 9/2, and we have a couple of other decent prices on our $24 ticket.

Today’s Pick 3 Play from Aqueduct:

Starting in Race 7: $1: 1,3,8 / 5,6 / 5,6,8,10 = $24

AQU Race 7 OClm $25,000N2X (3:55 et)

#3 Smokin Sarah, #8 I Promise, #1 Jovanna

#3 Smokin Sarah went gate to wire to score at this level last out as much the best and did it over a surface that was more favorable to outside stalkers and closers. The mare was the lone runner that day to win gate to wire. The mare has won twice at this level since last summer and Lake, who claimed her for $25K three back runs her right back at the same level here. She owns solid early and mid pace numbers and looks capable of winning right back here in her third start for Lake.

#8 I Promise is making her first start since last April for the Levine barn that is 35% winners (with a +ROI) with horses coming back off a +180 day layoff. The filly was third last out in the restricted NY Stallion Series Park Avenue, beaten just a nose and a head for the top spot. She missed winning a G3 in just her second career start and while the works are not jumping off the page, the barn has them ready to go fresh. She broke her maiden over a wet track in her debut.

AQU Race 8 OClm $75,000N3X (4:25 et)

#6 Trophy Road, #5 Accredit

#6 Trophy Road went gate to wire in the slop last out against non winners of three optional claimers in a sharp effort. The runner up in the race was Port Royal, who came back to beat Alw-2 company in his next outing on 2/10. Jacobson claimed this guy for $75K four back and this five year old has put in three solid efforts for the new connections. He owns a solid pace profile throughout with good early and mid pace numbers. He is bred to handle a wet track and has a win in two starts on off going.

#5 Accredit set the early fractions and could not match strides late with the winner in a runner up finish against optional claimers. The colt earned a career top in the effort and it was a nice bounce back after getting outrun two back in stakes company. The colt is 4 for 4 on wet tracks and we might see some rain today.

AQU Race 9 Md $15,000 (4:55 et)

#6 Sunday Dreamer, #10 Bentbutnotbroken, #8 Run From Hell, #5 Jet Jason

#6 Sunday Dreamer was badly outrun in his debut and returns here off a three month break with a plunge in for just a $15K tag here. The Levine barn is 27% winners with second time starters and this certainly looks like a soft spot here for the son of Freud. He has three sibs to race, a pair of winners, top earner Always Albert ($96K).

#10 Bentbutnotbroken ran into some traffic last out in a fifth place finish versus $35K state bred. The gelding cuts back to six furlongs for the first time since his debut where he made a good late run to finish in the runner up spot. Ramon departs and the barn has been frigid, but this looks like a good spot for the gelding.

Price Plays:
These are price plays to watch today. A small win-place wager is in order or if your pockets are deep enough, use these runners in your trifecta and Pick 3 and Pick 4 wagers. One or two of these could be the difference between a regular day at the track and hitting the IRS window with a signer.

Aqueduct:

  • R2: #3 Gatto Nero   8/1
  • R4: #6 Hazzaam’s Back   10/1
  • R5: #6 Bill Place   12/1
  • R5: #3 The Vin Man   8/1
  • R7: #6 Calling My Colors   15/1
  • R9: #5 Jet Jason   10/1

Good luck padding your bankroll today!
