Padding Your Bankroll on Friday November 14

National horse racing handicapper Michael Dempsey will attempt to pad his bankroll and yours with his daily column. He will feature at least one Pick 3 or Pick 4 play from a major track along with coverage of major stakes races, longshots, and he will keep you up to date on what is happening on the circuits he covers.
It was a sloppy mess at the Big A on Thursday, and after we nailed a $515 Pick 3 on Wednesday, we failed to pad our bankroll on Thursday.
However, Friday’s card holds some promise although the weather could be lousy again. There is more rain in the forecast and there is a good chance we are going to be off the turf.
We will invest $24 in the late Pick 3, and we could come up with another decent score. Four of our runners in the three race sequence are 8/1 or higher on the morning line.
Today's Play of the Day from Aqueduct:
AQU Race 6 Md $35,000 (2:48 et)
#3 Distortedamusement 3/1
#7 San Naa 7/2
#1 Hainesport 6/1
#4 Brogue 6/1
Analysis: #3 Distortedamusement chased the early pace from the rail and finished evenly in the stretch for a third place finish at Philly versus maiden special weight company. The runner up in the race was Call Me the Breeze, who returned to graduate in his next start on 11/4 at Philly. Two back at Laurel he was a good second behind Misty's Hope, a good looking winner in his next outing against Alw-1 company on 11/1 at Laurel. He drops in for a tag for the first timer here and is bred top and bottom to handle a wet track.
#7 San Naa raced down along the inside much of the trip last out in a fourth place finish on the turf at Belmont. He drops in for a tag here for the McLaughlin barn that is 27% winners (with a +ROI) with second time starters and 36% winners (with a +ROI) moving runners from maiden special to maiden claiming. The colt is a half to stakes winner Folkstone Park ($163K) and has a strong off track pedigree.
Wagering
WIN: #3 to win at 2/1 or better.
EX: 3,7 / 1,3,4,7
TRI: 3,7 / 1,3,4,7 / 1,3,4,7,8,10
Today’s Pick 3 Play from Aqueduct:
Starting in Race 7: $1: 4,5,11 / 5,6 / 5,9,13,15 = $24
AQU Race 7 OClm $30,000N2X (3:16 et)
#5 Alexandros, #4 Key Event, #11 Success Fee
#5 Alexandros returns off a seven week break where she tracked the early pace from the outside and weakened to finish seventh at this level going a mile on the main track. I'm assuming we are off the turf here and this guy has done his best running on the main track and has a win over a wet track. This guy looked like he needed a short break after failing to fire his best in his last two starts, IN his first 16 career starts he landed in the money in 12 of them. Gets in light with the bug Morales and worth a look if we catch most of the 12/1 ML.
#4 Key Event beat $35K claimers last out on the turf. He is back in the state bred allowance ranks here and he owns a win at the Alw-2 level versus state breds and beat open Alw-3 optional claimers at Philly last year on the turf. He looks like a good fit here.
AQU Race 8 Clm $25,000N2L (3:44 et)
#6 Cloud Nine, #5 Alabama Man
#6 Cloud Nine stalked the early pace and faded to finish tenth last out going six furlongs on the turf in his first go off nearly a three month break. The third place finisher in the race was Exchanging Kisses, a next out winner versus $35K claimers on 10/24. His lone win came on turf but he has a good dirt and off track pedigree, by Exploit out of a Salt Lake mare. This guy owns back numbers that are a god fit and worth a look if we see close to the 10/1 ML.
#5 Alabama Man did not fire last out in his first start against winners, a non threatening eighth going seven furlongs on turf. The gelding was a game maiden winner two back over good turf and was flattered when the runner up Calbo graduated in his next start at Churchill Downs. Was third three back in his lone go on dirt and is bred to handle a wet track.
AQU Race 9 Clm $35,000N3L (4:12 et)
#9 Unbridled Union, #15 Indy's Forum, #13 Elusive Flower, #5 My Anna Rose
#9 Unbridled Union tracked the early pace and faded to finish sixth last out in her first start for the Persaud barn off the claim. Two back on the main track at Belmont Park this gal was a sharp winner versus $15K non winners of two. Returns to dirt here and this gal is bred top and bottom to handle a wet track. Underrated barn goes with the seven pound bug Studart, which should help us get a fair price.
#15 Indy's Forum dueled for the early lead, ducked inward on the far turn and finished well for the runner up spot while no threat to the winner. She was coming off just a couple of days rest and no is wheeled back quick again. Contessa has good numbers bringing runners back quickly, hitting at a 18% clip with horses coming back off a 1-7 break.
Price Plays:
These are price plays to watch today. A small win-place wager is in order or if your pockets are deep enough, use these runners in your trifecta and Pick 3 and Pick 4 wagers. One or two of these could be the difference between a regular day at the track and hitting the IRS window with a signer.
