Padding Your Bankroll on Wednesday November 26
National horse racing handicapper Michael Dempsey will attempt to pad his bankroll and yours with his daily column. He will feature at least one Pick 3 or Pick 4 play from a major track along with coverage of major stakes races, longshots, and he will keep you up to date on what is happening on the circuits he covers.
Many things slow down for the approaching holidays, but attempting to pad our bankroll is not one of them.
Most tracks are open throughout the Thanksgiving weekend including Aqueduct, which runs a normal Wednesday through Sunday schedule.
Today’s play of the day could come in chalky as we are using the morning line favorite as my top pick, but Akilina looks like she has found a good spot to pick up a win.
Our Late Pick 3 play starts in the seventh race and is a $24 investment.

Analysis: #2 Akilina dueled for the early lead while down along the inside and hung late to finish fourth in the NY bred Gimma. She caught a main track that day that was favoring outside stalkers and closers. Two back she was a game second in the Vichy at the Spa, beaten just a half length for the top spot. She owns a solid pace profile throughout with good early and mid pace numbers but likely won't have things easy early. Returns off a short break for the Clement barn that is 26% winners with horses coming back off a 61-180 day layoff.
#8 Stunning Electra exits the same race as our top pick, hooking up in a speed duel from the outside and weakening to finish sixth. She has not been able to run back to the number she earned in her maiden score which came at five furlongs in the slop. The cut back to six furlongs and the drop into the allowance ranks should suit. She is capable with her best and might get overlooked on the tote in this spot.

#1 Please Impress / #1a Devil's Concierge, #2 Belz, #8 Hawkwood
#1 Please Impress tracked the pacesetter, made a move entering the stretch and drew away smartly in the slop to beat restricted $20K foes last out at the Big M. The gelding earned a career top in the effort and now returns to the NY bred ranks here for Dutrow. The gelding seems no worse for wear after getting vanned off three back at this condition.
Entry mate #1a Devil's Concierge was not a threat last out in a seventh place finish against Alw-1 optional claimers and now faces NY breds in his second start off a ten month layoff. Prado is listed on both so only one will go. #2 Belz made a mild late rally to finish third last out at this condition. beaten 5 3/4 lengths for the top spot. Two have come out of that race to run back, one next out winner. The gelding appears to be cycling into good form and should get an honest pace to track here in this spot.

#4 A Rose for You, #8 Wish Me Success
#4 A Rose for You is coming off a pair of sharp wins at Del park to pass her first two allowance conditions and comes in here in very sharp form for a sharp barn in Trombetta. The third place finisher in her last start was Jessica Is Back, who returned to beat Alw-2 optional claimers in her next outing on 11/15 at the Big M. The filly owns a solid pace profile throughout with good early and mid pace numbers. She has never been better and looks capable of taking this restricted stake.
#8 Wish Me Success finished well for the runner up spot while racing wide throughout last out in the Meadow Star in her first start in a stake in the Meadow Star here in the slop. She looks primed for a good effort here in her third start off the bench for Kimmel. #6 Ididntmeantoo earned the top last out speed fig defeating Alw-2 foes, a career top and a hard fought nose win. Looking for a slight regression here as the likely favorite.
AQU Race 9 Md $25,000 (4:12 et)
#9 Firsttodance, #5 Marian B, #12 Mrs. Holden, #10 Talented Treasure
#9 Firsttodance set the early fractions over a muddy surface and could not hold off the winner late, settling for the runner up spot while three lengths clear of the rest of the field. She finished ahead of four of these she faces again here as she makes her third start off a four month break. She looks like she has more upside potential than most of this group.
#5 Marian B exits the same race as our top pick, checking in fourth after racing evenly from the outside. Two back over a fast track she was a good second, turning for home with the lead but unable to match strides in the stretch with the winner. She figures to bounce back with a better effort here over a fast track. She has three sibs with just one a winner, 3 for 13 Polonia ($96K).

These are price plays to watch today. A small win-place wager is in order or if your pockets are deep enough, use these runners in your trifecta and Pick 3 and Pick 4 wagers. One or two of these could be the difference between a regular day at the track and hitting the IRS window with a signer.
