September 4th Horse Pick of the Day - Turfway Park Race 9

One of the forgotten meets for online Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships prep at Belmont on the east coast or the Oak Tree Meet at Santa Anita on the west coast.

Pinecrest Inn - - 3/1 morning line

There is plenty of speed in this race to set up this daughter of Petionville. But that’s not the real reason I like this guy as a key online racebook wager in this race. Pinecrest Inn has a record of 6 win and 2 seconds out of 11 starts at Turfway Park. Because he’s returning to a surface that he has been successful at before, there’s really no reason to look elsewhere. The expected pace duel up front should definitely help this one’s chances.

Podgy - - 5/2 morning line

Podgy should be a huge favorite in this race. He’s got the perfect style for this 6 ½ furlong dash over the Polytrack and trainer Bobby Larue is hitting at 50% with his last race winners. Podgy has already won two in a row. Three wouldn’t be out of the question but the short online odds makes me feel that Pinecrest Inn is probably the better key horse in this race.

Solo Cat - - 5/1 morning line odds

This fella has a serious chance to upset at nice odds. The drop in class could do wonders for this guy and his style, he’s a dead closer, says that he probably does very well in this race. Saving ground around the turn should help as well, but will the rail open up? If it does, then this guy could make a lot of online racebook fans look like geniuses.

Wagering Strategy

I absolutely love Pinecrest Inn at 3/1 or higher. An online wager to both win and place are in the offering if the online odds fall to where I expect them too. I will also use Pinecrest Inn with Podgy and Solo Cat in exacta and trifecta boxes.
