Horse Pick of the Day - Hollywood Park Race 5

Bookmark and Share by D.S Williamson

One day until Belmont Stakes.

But before Big Brown could do that, we have to take a look at the fifth race at off track betting money to watch Big Brown roll to an eleven length victory and still make us a profit.

Let’s get to it!

Hollywood Park Race 5

$57,000 n2x Allowance

1 1/16th miles on the turf

Jungle Wave - - 3/1 morning line

This 3-year old son of Hold That Tiger is undefeated in his two lifetime starts. He broke his maiden over the cushion track at Santa Anita going six furlong and then followed it up with a win on the turf at six furlongs. Now, he stretches out to 1 1/16th miles. He definitely has the ability to lead from gate to wire in this race. There just isn’t any other speed and young Joe Talamo, who has ridden Jungle Wave in his other two starts, figures to put him on the lead early. It will take some running to catch this guy on Friday night.

Sartorial - - 10/1 morning line

I have no idea why this horse is 10/1 on the morning line. He’s going first off the bench for Richad Mandella, has steady works coming into this and good enough speed ratings to challenge for the win. Oh…yeah…he hasn’t raced since August of 2007. Okay, maybe this is a prep for this guy, but he’s plenty good enough to win this if Corey Nakatani and Richard Mandella so choose.

Mind the Minister - - 2/1 morning line

Horse Racing Radio!

This 4 year old from the barn of Jeff Mullins is coming into this off a fantastic string of works. He will be the favorite in this race, but he sort of lags behind and then makes a nice run to the finish. That would be great if there were another horse in this race who could challenge Jungle Wave on the front-end. There isn’t. That means that Mind the Minister might find himself short again.

Wagering Strategy

I will make a win wager on Jungle Wave at 3 to 1 odds. I will also use in an exacta and trifecta box with Sartorial and Mind the Minister.

Good luck!
