Bookie: Great question! With so many exciting races coming up, this is the perfect opportunity for a refresher course. Since betting on the ponies is different than betting on most other sports, I will run through the horse wagering rules with you.
All horseracing wagers must be placed 5 minutes before race post time otherwise they will be considered `No Action`. This is something you will want to keep in mind when you want to take advantage of a hot tip for the Triple Crown!
All horseracing wagers will be time stamped by the sports consultant who is taking your bet to ensure the aforementioned rule is being honored. Believe me, this is in everybody’s best interest.
For your wagering convenience, BetUS.com accepts wagers on all major thoroughbred race tracks. That IS convenient, isn’t it?
When a scratched horse is involved in exactas and doubles, track rules will apply. It could possibly be a ‘No Action’, or not. It simply depends upon the track’s rules for that particular race.
Exotic wagers, which usually have higher payout odds, will only have ‘Action’ if the track offers payouts for that type of wager. Makes sense, right? For this reason, BetUS.com maximum payouts apply. See chart below.

And finally, bets placed on a horse with its entries must be chosen as follows:
#1 = #1 horse only
#1a = entry horse only
#1x or z = both horses
It’s just that simple!
