The Pegasus World Cup is looking to set a new standard in thoroughbred racing. In the fourth running of the event, horses will not be allowed to use any medication on race day.

$9 million will be on the line this Saturday at Gulfstream park in the world's richest race. The field has not been set, but so far we know the following horses will be at the gates when the gun goes off.

True Timber +1500
Tax +750
Diamond Oops +1500
Seeking the Soul +2800
Higher Power +550
War Story +2800
Mr. Freeze +2000
Mucho Gusto +350
Tenfold +3000
Bodexpress +3000

Leading into today's race, Omaha Beach was the favorite to win the Pegasus World Cup Invitational. Due to an abundance of precaution, the four-year old colt was scratched from what was scheduled to be his last race. He's now off to life as a stud.

Spun to Run, another favorite was also scratched from the race.

With these two horses out of commission, our attention turns to the field. Mucho Gusto is the new favorite

Seeking The Soul is the only horse of the group that has participated in the Pegasus World Cup before. The Dallas Stewart trained seven year old finished second in last year's race.

Seeking had one other top-three finish in 2019. He finished first in the Stephen Foster Handicap, a G3 race. He also finished third in the Alysheba Stakes.

It isn't a big stakes race without a Bob Baffert-trained horse. Mucho Gusto ran three times in 2018 and even times in 2019. He placed first five times, second twice, and third twice. The four-year old's only non top-10 finish was a fourth place result at the Oklahoma Derby (G3) in September. Mucho Gusto has the experience and resume to succeed this Saturday.

War Story is an eight-year old gelding with tons of experience. The Glenn K Ellis-owned, Elizabeth L. Dobles-trained horse has 34 races on his sheet. This includes 19 top-three finishes. He finished first in eight of those races. The last time we saw War Story, he finished first in the Harlan's Holiday Stakes.

Ten horses are slated to run in the Pegasus World Cup Invitational. Visit the BetUS Sportsbook and Racebook to place your bets.
